    For the love of food

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we’ve found ourselves pondering the origins of the most romantic day of the year.

Alas, we’ve been left scratching our heads, with our research uncovering no one single account, but rather varying tales involving multiple saints named Valentine, secret wedding ceremonies and tragic executions.

Pair this with the mixed feelings that exist around the validity of the special day and you’ve got yourself one polarising occasion.

One thing, however, that is near impossible to dispute, is the sheer joy brought about by sharing exceptional food and remarkable wine with the ones we love.

Enter, Braddon Merchant’s seven course Valentine’s Day dinner, featuring sparkling on arrival and a menu sure to set your pulse racing.

Think freshly shucked oysters, martini spritzed olives and sparkling tomato water – and that’s all before the mains.

If things are going particularly well with your significant other by the sixth course, there’s always the option to add an extra side of sweet to your dessert of lime meringue, raspberries and crème fraiche by checking yourselves into Midnight Hotel for the night to keep the romance going.

With us playing Cupid and doing all the Valentine’s Day planning for you this year, there’ll be absolutely no excuse for any last-minute gifts like that ever-predictable box of chocolates.

Lift your romance game and book your Braddon Merchant experience now.

    Happy Valentine’s Day, lovers!
